The nose is the central feature of the face and plays a pivotal role in determining the overall proportion and balance of your facial appearance, which is why rhinoplasty continues to be one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. An overlarge nose, droopy or bulbous tip, bump on the bridge, uneven, pinched or other aesthetic problem that troubles you can be resolved. The treatment you need may be either a surgical or non-surgical rhinoplasty, performed at our private clinic in Honolulu.
For some patients, however, the idea of going under the knife and permanently altering their dominant facial feature can seems daunting, no matter how much they may wish to improve the shape of their nose. For these people, non-surgical rhinoplasty – also known as the liquid nose job – has proved increasingly popular in recent years. But is the liquid nose job, using temporary dermal fillers, as good as the real thing? We’ve assessed some of the pros and cons of each procedure.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SURGICAL AND NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY?
A surgical rhinoplasty involves restructuring the nose, so it can be reshaped, and flaws fully resolved. To perform this procedure, the inner nose structure is accessed, either from within the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty) or by placing an incision on the small strip of tissue that separates the nostrils (open rhinoplasty). In a non-surgical rhinoplasty,(or liquid rhinoplasty) dermal fillers are injected to smooth a minor bump on the nose bridge, correct asymmetry, or create subtle changes for a more attractive nose.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF A SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY?
A surgical rhinoplasty may be the appropriate way to achieve the look you want, as the results achieved last a lifetime. Your nose will be reshaped in a customized surgical procedure, to create a more appealing, attractive balance between your nose and your other features. When a surgical rhinoplasty is performed correctly – which is of great importance – many less attractive nose appearance problems can be resolved, including:
- Large hump on nose bridge
- Large, drooping nose tip
- Pointed, pinched nose appearance
- Overlarge nostrils
- Wide nostrils
- Uneven nose
- Flat nose bridge
- Asian rhinoplasty
Additionally surgical rhinoplasty can also help to address any functional and breathing concerns of your nose, such as a deviated nasal septum, or nasal valve collapse.
WHAT ARE THE OF NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY?
A non-surgical rhinoplasty gives you the opportunity to alter the appearance of your nose without surgery. While this treatment will not repair more serious nose shape flaws, or addressing deviated nasal septum or breathing issues, it can be an excellent treatment for many people who just need minor changes to create a more attractive and harmonized look. The main advantage is that the treatment does not involve any incisions, scars, or recovery time, and results are immediate. The fillers will eventually be absorbed by the body and retreatment will be required in time.
